Nava Panchangam ("the app", "we", "us") is a Tamil Panchangam (Hindu calendar/astrology) application available at navapanchangam.com and as an Android app. This page explains what data the app collects and how it is used.

Account data

If you create an account, we store the information you provide: your email address, a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text), an optional display name, and birth details (date, time, and location) used to calculate your personal astrological profile. We also store your preferred calculation location and panchang system.

Feature data

If you use them, we store the content you create within the app: Moi ledger entries (gift/favor records you add), alert rules and the notifications generated from them, and any collaborative "feeds" you create, join, or post to. This data is used only to provide the corresponding feature to you and, where you explicitly share it, to other users you invite (e.g. shared feeds).

Sessions and cookies

When you log in, we set a single first-party session cookie to keep you signed in. This cookie is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. On Android, the app opens the same website in a secure, verified browser context, so the same session mechanism applies.

Offline data and notifications

The app caches previously viewed panchang data on your device (browser storage) so it can work offline, and can show local notifications for alerts you configure. This data stays on your device and is used only to make the app faster and to support offline use.

Product analytics

To understand which features are used and improve the app, we may collect a small set of product-usage events (for example "app opened" or "alert created") using a self-serve analytics service configured without advertising identifiers, session recording, or cross-site tracking. These events are not sold or shared with advertisers, and they never include your birth details or panchang readings.

What we don't do

We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not sell your data to anyone.
